The Sullivan County Recreational Association, Inc. (SCRA) was formed in February 2006 by several people from Sullivan County , looking to help county communities improve their recreational areas, or create new areas. Our long term goal is to build a community and cultural facility for all county residents.

The immediate focus of the SCRA is to improve upon the current playing facilities within Sullivan County , such as baseball fields and soccer fields. We are also building new facilities where necessary. Work has already begun in Laporte (new fencing, dugouts and concessions) and Elkland Township (new baseball and soccer fields. The project in Davidson Township (new concession and restrooms connected to town sewer) will soon begin.

Even while we continue these local projects, the time has come to plan the next, more demanding stage. Sullivan County currently, has no indoor recreational facility open to all area residents. We intend to establish such a facility that would serve all ages, during all seasons throughout the year. The Sullivan County Council on the Arts has joined with us to add artistic and cultural dimension to the facility. We envision a multi-use facility to be used as a regional and cultural center, that would include indoor sports (basketball, wrestling, cheerleading, hydro-therapy, soccer, track, etc.) cultural activities, a small theater, and rooms for varied activities such as aerobics, yoga, meetings and arts and crafts classes.
